User Web Server (people.tamu.edu)

This web server exists so users can publish their own information. The individual page authors are responsible for all content.

To activate a web page on this server go to: "Manage OAL Account",  login using your NetID and password. (If it fails, you may need to reset your NetID password at gateway.tamu.edu) Select “Setup My WebPage” and then “Enable”. Once you receive the Success message, you are good to go.

Your website address will be http://people.tamu.edu/~yournetid.

How to get your files to your "public_html" directory on people.tamu.edu:

• Open Access Computing Labs: In My Computer, you have access to the"Unix Drive(U:)" where your public_html directory is located. You only have to save or move files into the directory.
Outside the Labs: Use SFTP to upload your files to your public_html directory. FTP is not supported.

• Filezilla (prefered), a Windows SFTP client can be downloaded from http://filezilla-project.org.
• WinSCP using SFTP works, using the SCP protocol with WinSCP is not supported.
• FUGU, a Mac SMTP client is available at http://rsug.itd.umich.edu/software/fugu. 
• If using SFTP  from off campus, you must first establish a VPN connection.
  
• Host: people.tamu.edu, Username: <Your NetID>, Port: 22

• You can also use a Virtual Open Access Lab machine to drag and drop files from your local machine to your "Unix Drive(U:)".  You first need to log into a machine and then use the windows File Explorer to copy your files.
