Posting Files to the Web
Using an Open Access Lab
- Log in to an OAL Computer.
- Click Start > My Computer > U: > Public_html folder.
- Save or move files into the folder.
Using a Virtual Open Access Lab
- Visit https://voal.tamu.edu.
- Follow the instructions listed on the home page.
- Wait for the VOAL to load.
- Click Start > My Computer > U:. This opens Windows File Explorer. In Explorer, you can see both your files from your off-campus computer and files from your OAL Home drive.
- Copy and paste files from your off-campus computer to your public_html folder located in the U: drive.
Using a Campus Computer (non OAL)
- Download a Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) Client.
- Filezilla for Windows: http://filezilla-project.org/.
- FUGU for Macs: http://rsug.itd.umich.edu/software/fugu.
- Use the following SFTP connection options:
Host: people.tamu.edu
Username: <Your NetID>
Password: <NetID Password>
Port: 22
Using a Computer (non OAL or VOAL)
- Establish a VPN connection. See https://net.tamu.edu/network/vpn/vpn.html for instructions on how to do establish this connection.
- Download a Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) Client.
- Filezilla for Windows: http://filezilla-project.org/.
- FUGU for Macs: http://rsug.itd.umich.edu/software/fugu.
- Use the following SFTP connection options:
Host: people.tamu.edu
Username: <Your NetID>
Password: <NetID Password>
Port: 22
