My research is in the area of social media analytics with a focus on the application of machine learning methods and big data tools to characterize, detect and combat misuse in social media systems. I am fourtunate to have Prof. James Caverlee as my advisor.
About me: I have a Master of Software Engineering degree from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and a B.S. degree also in Software Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in Dhahran Saudi Arabia. I worked for Saudi Aramco, the national oil company of Saudi Arabia for 4 years and then moved to the private sector for another 4 years working on social media analytical systems using big data tools such as Apache Hadoop and later Spark. In 2015, I went back to King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals but this time as a lecturer in the computer science department and moved the same year to Texas to work towards a PhD degree in computer science with Prof. James Caverlee .
