ABOUT ME

I became interested in horticulture at a very early age. Growing up in Arlington, Texas, I always helped my perents whenever they worked outside in the garden. I bought my first orchid when I was 8 and more soon thereafter. My collection grew, and I soon found myself surrounded by plants.

By the time I turned 15, I had begun working with daylilies. I am currently evaluating over 1000 of my own seedlings, produced between 2005 and 2010, with the hope of registering and selling my first cultivars in 2013.

This past summer, I had the opportunity to work as a breeding intern for Ball Horticultural. I had considered becoming a plant breeder as a career option but wanted to learn more about breeding as an industry before I made any final decisions. I greatly enjoyed my time there and the experience reassured me of my decision.
