ABOUT ME

I am Italian. I grew up in a small town of about 3000 people, in the beautiful Abruzzo region. I am a first generation college graduate. My mom dropped out of high school in her teens, when she became pregnant with my brother (but then went back in her 20s to get her diploma). My dad dropped out of college in his second year. All members of my family (except for my husband and kids) still live in Abruzzo.

My husband, Jonathan Brunstedt, is an Associate Professor in the History Department at TAMU. We met at St. Antony’s College, at the University of Oxford. I was starting my PhD (DPhil) in Economics. He was starting the second year of his MPhil in Russian and Eastern European Studies. He then stayed in Oxford for his PhD in Modern History. We have two cats: Attila (born in 2017) and Arnold (born in 2020). We also have two sons: Alexander (born in 2014) and Nicholas (born in 2018).

Here is a recent photo of my family (minus the cats), taken at the Grand Canyon in July 2022.
