Just after Vaclav Havel is elected president, I have seen a picture of him with former president of Czechoslovakia, Alexander Dubcek. It was such a beautiful scene just before sunset; Havel & Dubcek were in balcony celebrating victory. The satisfaction in their face after years of struggle was amazing.

Anyway, looking at the photograph, I came up this story of Quackquackia lake with characters such as Quacklav Havel and Ugly Duckcek. Quackquackia was a version of ugly duckling story applied to Czechoslovakia. It was published as a fable and this is its illustration: a recreation of that balcony scene. In this illustration, I tried to capture that satisfaction I have seen in their face. Unfortunately, I did not save the original balcony photograph.

The fable is published in Gozlem. Czechoslovakia, soon after after I have written this fable, divided into two countries, Czech Republic and Slovak Republic. So, the fable became out of date and Quackquackia does not rhyme with neither Czech nor Slovak Republic
