VIZA 665 : Digital Compositing
Spring 2019

Project 13: Final Tweaks for the final composited animation of project 12 First Review: Apr. 29
Submissions Due: May. 06

Overall Goal:

To learn handling scenes with transparent objects. In this particular project, you will learn how to add an animated articificial object into such scenes.

Synopsis:

This project is intended for you to deal with compositing animated artificial objects into the scenes that include mostly refractive surfaces. Use the assigned scene with transparent objects as a background.

Project Description:

You will composite an animation of an artificial (i.e. CG) object into the given photograph of the recfractive scene using the work from previous poroject; i.e. image-space proxy geometry and an advanced Barycentric shader that represent materials.

Project Requirements:

  1. Be sure that the shading of the CG object is consistent with overall scene.
  2. Shadow of the object must look believable.
  3. In other words, shadow colors must match other shadows in the scene. Shadow shape must conform other shapes in the scene.
  4. Be sure reflection, refraction, Fresnel and Caustics looks acceptable.

Bonus:

  1. Also move the light. The whole scene can be relighted. If your previous project is successful, this is trivial.
  2. Turn your artificial object into emissive (i.e. light). The whole scene will be relighted by moving. If your previous project is successful, this could be trivial.

Please upload your images to project website for critical review and class discussion.
