An important role of faculty is to advance their field and promote their programs and departments by participating in external events as committee members and reviewers. As a result of the visibility of my research, I have refereed a large number of journal and conference papers, evaluated book and grant proposals, and served on several conference program committees and NSF panels.

I have created a Texas-wide computer graphics and digital art symposium, Texgraph, which was held for the first time in May 2000 at Texas A&M. Since then it has been held five times.

Texgraph History

  • 2006, Texas A&M Architecture Department, Chair: Vinod Srinivasan
  • 2005, Texas A&M Computer Science Department, Chair: John Keyser
  • 2003, University of Texas - Computer Science Department, Chair: Nina Amenta
  • 2001, University of Houston - Computer Science Department, Chair: Ioannis A. Kakadiaris
  • 2000 Texas A&M Architecture Department, Chair: Ergun Akleman

With Burak Pak & Ozan Ozener, I have also created a symposium in Turkey, called Digital Design Days (Dijital Tasarim Gunleri), that combines computer graphics, art and architectural design. This symposium also has held four times in different Turkish universities with a large number of participants.
