Application Information for 2019 REU

Atmospheric Science in the Gulf Coast Region

Applications for the 2019 REU will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. Central Standard Time on February 15, 2019.

The first screen will ask you to enter some contact information (your name, email address, etc.) and ask you to select a frequency for updates on the completeness of your application.  (For example, if you start an application but have yet to complete a section of it, upload a needed file, etc., the system will send you reminders through the application deadline on February 15.  We recommend selecting “default” reminders unless you have a preference otherwise.)

After you have submitted your information on the first screen, you’ll be taken to a screen with the remainder of the application.  The application consists of some brief background questions and will ask you to provide a short personal statement telling us a bit about your interest in atmospheric science. You’ll also need to arrange for two letters of reference to be sent from science professors to complete your application.  You should enter the contact information for your references early enough for them to have time to submit letters before our February 15 deadline.

What you will need to complete the application:

Answer the background questions

You’ll need to provide a copy of your transcript (a scanned, unofficial version is fine)

An essay on your background and interest (500 words; that’s about a page single spaced)

Contact information for two references to complete the application.

The application, letters, and transcript need to be received by the February 15, 2019 deadline to ensure full consideration.
