Pinching a Coleus

Coleus plants tend to grow tall, but one way to keep the plant compact is to pinch the stem. One of the best ways to pinch a coleus is to use the thumb and forefinger to break off the stem. Although it seems cruel, it is good to pinch the coleus back to encourage branching. After pinching your coleus will branch and fill out the container.
