LBAR 489.200: Liberal Arts Honors Reading Course

Multiculturalism, Political Correctness, and the University

This one-credit reading course is for freshman and sophomore honors students who will read and discuss essays on multiculturalism, sexual harassment, date rape, campus speech codes, affirmative action, and race, class, and gender differences. Essays are from Campus Wars: Multiculturalism and the Politics of Difference, ed. John Arthur and Amy Shapiro (Westview Press, 1995).

  • Robert Zipp
  • For each class, students should write a short summary of the readings. On at least one occasion during the semester, each student will also prepare a one-page (single-spaced) summary of the assigned readings for distribution to the other members of the group at least a day prior to class.
