Department of Maritime Archaeology, Western Australian Museum, Assistant Curator.
Task: Maritime archaeologist in the department of maritime archaeology of the Western Australian Museum for the state of Western Australia.

   

2006 - present

Kyrenia Shipwreck, Cyprus, under the aegis of Susan Katzev and Laina Swiney.
Task: Research and final publication of the metal fasteners of a third-century B.C. Greek merchant ship excavated near the town of Kyrenia on the northern coast of Cyprus.

   

2005

Nautical Archaeology Program, Department of Anthropology, Texas A&M University, USA, Teaching Assistant.
Task: Teaching four classes on the use of Photoshop in archaeology. These classes are part of a graduate course (Computer Graphics in Archaeology, ANTH636).

Task: Dissemination of archaeological information to the general public for the deep-water excavation of the Mardi Grass Shipwreck in the Gulf of Mexico.

Task: Research and publication of the archaeological hull remains of the Bataviashipwreck (1629).

Tektaş Burnu Shipwreck, Bodrum, Turkey, under the aegis of Prof. George F. Bass and Deborah Carlson, Institute of Nautical Archaeology, Texas A&M University, and the National Geographic Society.
Task: Research and final publication of the archaeological hull remains of a fifth-century B.C. Greek merchant ship on the western coast of Turkey.

   

2002 - present

Task: Development of computer applications for educational purposes or to aid scientific research.

Task: Teaching students History and Italian Linguistics computer applications as Windows, Word, Email, and Internet, and the use of computers applications for scientific research in their field.

Task: Teaching students about the problems and possibilities of computerized applications in archaeology (like databases, GIS- and mapping applications) used for scientific research and fieldwork. Annual requisite course.

   
   

Field experience

   

2002 - 2006

Kadirga Project, Naval Museum, Istanbul, Turkey, Assistant Director, in cooperation with Dr. Cemal Pulak, Institute of Nautical Archaeology, Texas A&M University.
Task: Supervision of student assistants, project coordination, recording and making construction drawings of the only historic Ottoman Sultan's galley in existence, probably dating to the 17th century.

   

1999 - 2006

Uluburun Shipwreck, Bodrum, Turkey, Assistant Director, in cooperation with Dr. Cemal Pulak, Institute of Nautical Archaeology, Texas A&M University.
Task: Supervision of student assistants, coordinating and assisting with research and final publication of the Uluburun shipwreck, a Late Bronze Age shipwreck (±1300 B.C.) found on the south-western coast of Turkey.

   

2001 - 2002

Avondster Shipwreck Project, Galle, Sri Lanka, Archaeological Consultant, conducted by Robert Parthesius and Karen Millar, Amsterdams Historisch Museum.
Task: Research and assist-directing the excavation of the 17th century Dutch East Indiaman Avondster (1659).

   

2001

Tektaş Burnu Shipwreck Excavation, Turkey, conducted by Prof. George F. Bass, Institute of Nautical Archaeology, Texas A&M University, and the National Geographic Society.
Task: Archaeologist on the excavation of a Classical Greek merchant ship on the western coast ofTurkey.

   

1997 - 2000

Geraki Project, Laconia, Greece, conducted by Prof. Joost Crouwel, University of Amsterdam.
Task: Trench-assistant, geodetic survey assistant and supervisor of computerized applications (using AutoCAD and database application Paradox).

   

1996 and 1998

Ognina Shipwreck Survey/Excavation, Sicily, Italy, conducted by Dr. Hanz G. Martin, Deguwa (German Society for Underwater Archaeology).
Task: Archaeologist, supervisor of diving schedule, artifact processing, artifact photography, and mapping, assistant by carrying out sonar measurements.
