Texas A&M Fulbright Association

Why did I, as a Fulbright student, choose for Texas A&M University in College Station? I wanted to study nautical archaeology, and Texas A&M University is the only university in the world to offer an intensive and structural in-depth program in this field. Nautical archaeology is the study of the remains of boats and ships and the cultures that created and used them. After the establishment of the Nautical Archaeology Program (NAP) at TAMU in 1976 by George Bass, who is recognized as the "father of nautical archaeology," the NAP has achieved a very high international standing. It is at Texas A&M University that the educational and methodical foundation for the field was established. It was, therefore, easy to make the decision to apply to the program offered at Texas A&M.

In retrospect, it was the best choice I have ever made. Not only is the program beyond what I had hoped for, but Texas A&M has a much more to offer to its students than just a good education. It has excellent sport facilities for its students, a wide-range of extra-curricular activities, economic living conditions, low tuition and fees, and a very active and stimulating student community, not to mention the nice warm climate. Ever since I came here, I have felt part of Texas A&M's 'Fulbright family'. It is a very colorful and diverse group from all over the world, which makes College Station a great place to help and create an understanding between people of different cultural backgrounds, and to live the Fulbright experience. The Texas A&M Fulbright Association would like to help and facilitate new Fulbright students. So, that they also can share this experience with us. Please, do not hesitate to contact any of us for assistance or simply to answer any questions you may have in general.
