RESEARCH: Southern Ocean
Ongoing research in the Southern Ocean is largely based on a
collaboration with Dr. Sarah Fawcett at the University of Cape Town,
South Africa. The work seeks to document differences in the isotope
effect for NO3- assimilation throughout the
region, as well as to look for evidence for DON production and consumption with
an isotope effect.
Rachel Thomas, a Ph.D. student in the group, together with FSU
Prof. Sven Kranz and a grad student from Dreux Chappell's group at
Old Dominion University, participated in the Southern oCean seAsonaL
