Zoë BeDell
Howdy! My name is Zoë BeDell and I am a senior undergraduate here at Texas A&M University pursuing a double degree in Entomology and Ecology and Conservation Biology.
Throughout my undergrad, I have gone on two study abroad trips in Trinidad and Tobago and in the Amazon river, specifically in the Rio Negro. I am finishing up my research that I conducted in Northeastern Trinidad where I surveyed the wild bee fauna, identified them, and took many focus stacked images of each species to show a detailed checklist in the region. Since my experience in wild bees there, I have fallen in love with native/wild bees and their ecology, evolution, and significance to our daily life. My dream is to one day have my own lab studying native bees.
In Dr. Motta’s lab, my research project includes studying the gut microbiota of several native bee species found in central Texas. Outside of work, I like to watch anime, play with my pet hedgehog, and feed my pet cherry shrimps, aquatic snails, and my pea puffer fish named Pepé!
