Math. 311 Fall 1998 HOMEWORK SUMMARY REPORT Week number: 10 Problem number: 6.4.2 Number of papers received:4 Reviewing committee (Greek letter): alpha List all participating members:Mary Gregg, Dana Cloud Author[s] of paper[s] chosen for publication: Juan Juarez Comments: All of the papers had close to the right answer. None of them had good explanation of their work, but Juan's had the most. INSTRUCTOR'S COMMENT (SP '99): I have just noticed that the last step of the published paper is slightly wrong. The x component of the Laplacian of a vector V is the Laplacian of the x component of V (not the second x derivative of V, which isn't even a scalar). And so on for the other two components.
