Problem is correct.  More of a workout would be helpful.

INSTRUCTOR'S COMMENT:  A better paper is that of Trevor Tidwell.  The
point is that if you set x equal to one of the numbers a_i , the
determinant is 0, so you have found a root.  Since there are only n roots,
you have found them all.
