Math. 311 Spring 2000 HOMEWORK SUMMARY REPORT Assignment number: 2 Problem number: 2.1.15 Number of papers received: 3 Reviewing committee (Greek letter): omicron List all participating members: bezner, harris, deeke Author[s] of paper[s] chosen for publication: Jonathan Jones Comments: All the papers were right but we selected Jones' for publication because his part b was the most general. INSTRUCTOR'S COMMENT: Jon's argument for part b is to construct the cross product as the vector independent of the two given vectors. This is correct and clever, but I can't agree that it is the most general method. What happens if the space is not 3-dimensional? The other two papers employed more general methods, but each was for some reason or another not quite suitable for publication.
