Comments: Overall, most students got the right answers through similar
methods. The students either solved for the entire matrix through
inverses or solved for individual matrix elements through a system of
equations and solved that through row reduction. It was good that all of
the students documented the specific steps in the row operations involved.
The method involving inverses seems to be more reliable because using the
other method can get messy. One student even switched some of the
variables while trying to solve for the individual elements. Only one
student adequately described the logic of their solution. The others,
while getting the right answers, did not explain the process they used to
get the answers.
