Both papers came to the correct solution for each part, with the exception
of a relatively trivial omission on part 1. Neither paper presented a
rigorous solution to part 2, however, which is an important part of the
problem. The first paper [Scott McClelland] has the best solution to part
b, although it needs revision. An alternate solution will be avilable at

GRADER'S AND INSTRUCTOR'S COMMENT:  Scott's simple solution is adequate, 
since we know that the constant function is linearly independent from the 
other powers.  However, we'll display the reviewers' more systematic 
approach also.
