M 311 Spring 2004 HOMEWORK SUMMARY REPORT Chapter number: 7 Section number: 5 Exercise number: 5 Number of papers received: 5 Reviewing committee: Zeta List all participating committee members: Ashley Pagnotta, Zac Robinson Author of paper chosen for publication: James Macfarlane, but see notes below. Comments: In general, the papers we received were well done and showed a fairly good understanding of Stokes's and Gauss's theorems. We chose James's paper for publication as it is the best of what we received, but as noted previously, it is not the best that could be achieved for this problem. In a perfect world we would suggest adding more steps to James's Part A (to better show the change from Cartesian to Polar coordinates) and a revision of Part B, including an intuitive description of the problem similar to Patrick's, but a tad bit more detailed. However, due to the fact that it is so late in the semester and everyone is busy with tests and final exam prep, the only revision necessary is to change the typo mentioned in James's individual report.
