M 311 Spring 2004 HOMEWORK SUMMARY REPORT Chapter number: 7 Section number: 6 Exercise number: 21 Number of papers received: 8 Reviewing committee: Alpha List all participating committee members: James Macfarlane, Tristan Brown Author(s) of paper(s) chosen for publication: Amanda Coots Comments: Everyone understood the problem and used Gauss's theorem correctly. A couple of people used the formula for the volume of a sphere instead of solving the integral, and one person mentioned Jacobi's theorem. The answers were all correct and there were some very good explanations. GRADER'S COMMENT: If everything comes out of the integral as constant factors, then obviously \int dV = V. So just use the formula for volume of a sphere (or whatever) without evaluating the triple integral again.
