  Comments:  The papers were done neatly and their logic was easy to
follow.  We didn't however, feel that either of them were sufficient for
publication.

INSTRUCTOR'S COMMENT:  In more detail:  Neither paper completely
simplified polynomial (b) to one of the forms

a cos(2t) + b sin(2t)   or   c e^{2it} + d e^{-2it}

(where a, b, c, d are certain complex numbers).  See the F98 solution
(which also has better commentary).  However, Quan's paper came so close
that the grader declared it OK.
