  Comments: There was considerable trouble with this problem.


INSTRUCTOR'S COMMENTS: I'll say!  Two people had the main ideas right, but
confused "independent" with "dependent".  (One of these is being
rewritten.)  One person just copied down what I said in class while the
papers were being collected.  The other 3 really didn't have a clue, and
tried to bluff.
