Math. 311 Fall 1996 HOMEWORK SUMMARY REPORT Week number: 12 Problem number: 7.6.1 Number of papers received: 6 Reviewing committee (Greek letter): Lambda List all participating members: Wesley Hunt Manuel Davila Author[s] of paper[s] chosen for publication: Brandon Von Volkenburgh Comments: [Two people] forgot that Guass' law could only be applied to closed surfaces, so they never did "cap off" the paraboloid. It doesn't affect the answer because the integral of the cap is zero. However, both of them also set the limits of integration to be a hemisphere, not a paraboloid. The others had the right idea, and they all used the same method to evaluate the integral, but only Brandon and John got the entire integral evaluated correctly. We chose Brandon's solely on its neatness.
