I am an Associate Professor at CSE department of Texas A&M University, where I direct the lab of Optimization for Machine learning and AI (OptMAI Lab). My research interests center around optimization, big data, machine learning and responsible AI. Before joining TAMU, I was an assistant professor and then associate professor at the Computer Science Department at the University of Iowa from 2014 to 2022. Before that, I was a researcher at NEC Laboratories America, Inc. from 2013 to 2014, and a Machine Learning Researcher at GE Global Research from 2012 to 2013. I received my Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from Michigan State University in 2012, and received my Bachelor degree from University of Science and Technology of China in 2007.
