Howdy Week 2022

At Texas A&M University, Howdy Week occurs during the first week of fall courses every year. It is designed to welcome new and returning students with campus-wide activities, organizations, and events in order to promote a sense of community and Aggie spirit. During Howdy Week 2022, I ran the station for the Institute for Engineering Education and Innovation (IEEI). I had the opportunity to greet and connect with students in Zachry Engineering Education Complex, inform students on IEEI's mission statement, goals, and upcoming events that are open to the public, and run raffles and distribute the associated prizes. I assisted with disassembling IEEI's station and cleanup at the conclusion of howdy week.

Texas Land Grants Day Fall 2022

Texas Land Grants Day is a conference held twice a year to explore collaboration and funding opportunities between Texas A&M University and Prairie View A&M University. I ran the reception table for the event, organized and distributed nametags and lunches, and processed attendees. I assisted with organizing the catering service and set up for the event. I also sent reminder emails to attendees preceding the event, and set out follow-up emails on behalf of IEEI after the conclusion of Texas Land Grants Day. At the end of the day, I assisted with cleaning up the lobby and conference room.

Brazos Valley Food Bank

I am looking forward to volunteering at the Brazos Valley Food Bank starting this fall. They are a nonprofit central food distribution site that feeds tens of thousands of people annually. I have served at food pantries in the past, and I've always enjoyed the experience, whether it is donating food, sorting, packing food into bags, or distributing food to people. I am interested in helping sort and sanitize food before it is distributed. I am also interested in helping by pulling orders from the inventoried stock and assisting in unloading the donations. By volunteering at the Brazos Valley Food Bank, I hope I will be able to contribute meaningfully to the community that surrounds Texas A&M.
