Matthew Hielsberg is a System Administrator IV working for Technology Services at Texas A&M University in College Station, TX. He is also affiliated with the Texas A&M Institute of Data Science (TAMIDS), the Institute for Scientific Computation (ISC), and the Department of Mathematics.

Mr. Hielsberg works with researchers to design and build systems to best fit their computational needs. He also administers small to mid-size high performance computing clusters, responsible for host and network security, and provides technical support. He currently manages the Whistler Computing Cluster, which is the Department of Mathematics' local computing cluster (1100+ cores) primarily supported by the Numerical Analysis and Scientific Computation groups, as well as the Department of Statistics' local computing cluster (620+ cores).

Mr. Hielsberg has also supported faculty research initiatives through the development of custom software tools and applications as well as consulted on algorithmic development. He has mentored lab students, provided technical training and seminars covering a range of topics from programming languages and best practices to various research topics. He has made contributions to and developed a variety of different software applications, typically for desktops and HPC, but has also developed for mobile platforms and web.
