Computer Vision: Help Computers See

Abstract:
To build effective autonomous robots, algorithms must be developed that allow computer systems to interpret visual interpretations of their environment providing computer vision.

Complete Computer Vision algorithms would be much too complex for the average high school student. However, it is possible to examine some of the underlying principles of image processing to prepare students to learn the more in depth algorithms involved in feature detection and full scale computer vision.

Through this course of lessons, students will be guided through some of the basic concepts of computer vision and how they apply to real world problems. Students will then explore developing techniques for image rectification and other basic image processing algorithms.

"Engineering stimulates the mind. Kids get bored easily. They have got to get out and get their hands dirty: make things, dismantle things, fix things. When the schools can offer that, you'll have an engineer for life." -Bruce Dickinson
