The main goal of this project is to research the use of Augmented Reality by marine surveyors. Currently in phase 2, we have 3 simultaneous sub-projects covering a range of topics: from context-aware AR to hazard prevention using User Interfaces.

Buenas: Giving all a seat at the table using Mixed Reality

Collaborative effort between Purdue, Texas A&M College Station, and Texas A&M Central Texas Universities to develop and evaluate a mixed reality software and hardware system to allow remote students to attend on campus study group sessions effectively and unobtrusively.

An Augmented Reality soundwalk on the UN's Sustainable Development Goal: "Life Under Water", this project was a collaboration with artists in residence Chromic Duo, as well as Faculty and Students from the College of Performance, Visualization & Fine Arts at Texas A&M University.

VirtuHS TSD study
Virtual Reality
VirtuHS

In VirtuHS, students form role-based teams to build curriculum-aligned VR projects that address real classroom needs, as defined by teacher-clients that set the requirements and review milestone so projects address real classroom goals and are instructionally meaningful. The program emphasizes collaboration, iterative design, and authentic classroom integration—building students' technical/problem-solving skills and giving teachers sustainable strategies for using immersive technologies in practice.

Virtual Reality
Towards an Ergonomics-based Framework for Inclusive and Dynamic Personalizations of Virtual Reality Environments (Ph.D.)

This project explores how to incorporate human factors' analyses to inform the design of real-life spaces in Virtual Reality, aiming to provide more inclusive interactions between users and their space. By acquiring the user's real measurements and interpolating them in a digital twin of the target space, the framework can determine what changes in the space are necessary to provide an optimal interaction for the user. The project is Raquel T. Cabrera-Araya's doctoral research and is a work in progress.
