Comprehend Part 5

Module 5 Cooperation: In the final module, we cover three chapters that are useful for exploring the pros and cons of two narratives used in behavioral ecology: "selfish genes" and "maximizing individuals". Since this theoretical debate in evolutionary biology often appears obscure to practitioners, we stimulate open discussion about bridging science and practice in the study of cooperation (Chapter 12), communication (Chapter 14) and resulting conclusions (Chapter 15). We skip Chapter 13 on social insects because the focus of this course is on vertebrate species.
